About Estelle

Estelle Uba is a writer, multimedia journalist and presenter who started blogging her social commentary at the age of 17, and has been writing and broadcasting ever since. Her interests include reporting on stories relating to identity, community, human rights and business, and she prides herself on adopting an intersectional approach to her work.

She has worked as a multimedia business reporter at social enterprise magazine Pioneers Post and has completed internships at The Guardian and international press agency AFP (Agence France Presse), as well as writing freelance articles for The Republic Journal, irokoos, Barriers to Bridges, and other publications.

She has won awards for her journalism, including Best Self-Published Article in the Writing to End Violence Against Women Awards and Top 10 Winner in the Frontline National Student Awards, and was Highly Commended for the Young Journalist’s Award 2022.

She holds a Master’s degree in International Journalism from City, University of London and a Bachelor’s degree in English & Sociology (with a Year Abroad in France) from the University of Leeds. As a student, she founded and ran an online magazine called Gen-Z Talks (2021–23), aimed at giving herself and other young Gen-Z writers the platform to discuss socio-political issues and keep other young people informed of current affairs through an intersectional lens.

Estelle is always seeking new opportunities to cover new stories in the form of articles, podcasts, documentaries, social video, you name it! She is also open to hosting events.
